Tim Palmer (Percussion) has been a member of the New Music Players for 13 years. He has played as guest principal percussion for many of the UK’s major orchestras and ensembles, including the BBCSO, the RSNO, the ECO, the Britten Sinfonia and the London Sinfonietta, with whom he has toured extensively. As well as being a contemporary music specialist Tim also plays period timpani, and has worked with the Orchestre Revolutionaire et Romantique and the English Baroque Soloists under Sir John Eliot Gardiner. Tim has appeared as a soloist in venues from Belfast to Beirut, including at the Dartington International Music Festival and the Brighton Festival. He is currently preparing to perform at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting in Kampala in November 2007, representing the London Sinfonietta as part of a collaborative composition project with the Uganda Dance Academy Orchestra.
Tim has a long history of inclusive education practice, and is Senior Lecturer in Music Education at Trinity College of Music, where he specialises in creative project leadership and research on the role of the musician in 21st century education.
